How do you afford to Rent in Knoxville?
Post Body

With the average salaries in Knoxville being around 30-40k. I am wondering what you all do to afford housing. Please don’t share any personal details you aren’t comfortable sharing! I just want to get some insight because renting costs a lot. For those of us starting out with credit that can’t lease immediately and/or have student loans starting out from college etc.

Budgeting of course helps. I think the “recommended amount” where x amount of your income should be spent on housing is a bit out dated for the current times. I personally pay almost twice the recommended amount because it was what was available at the time. You can’t always get the location you want either. And I have fur babies!

Edit: Thank you for your responses everyone. It seems a bit more or less like the boat is the same everywhere you go.
