Hi! So about two months ago I fell really bad while roller skating, I’ve been icing and resting my knee and was finally able to get an mri last week. My results came in today and my dr called me to explain. It turns out when the injury happened It was a patellar dislocation and I tore my retinaculum. My question is, bc of the dislocation, weren’t they supposed to have put it back into place? I went to the er the day after it happened and the er dr basically just sent me home with a brace without even looking or touching my knee, he just assumed it was a sprain and now my sports dr is saying that the kneecap shifted and is going to remain in that spot and may give problems in the future. Could this have been prevented if the er dr inspected it some more months ago?Is this type of dislocation different from a regular knee dislocation? Also, I tore my retinaculum. Basically I’m wondering if someone could give me more insight in what this means and if I’ll ever fully recover :)
