I am just finishing this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is patiently awaiting Doors of Stone. This a brief extract which showcases the book, and shows how the Kingkiller books may have been influenced by these stories. (If you are extremely wary of spoilers, don't read on. I did change one name to negate spoilers a bit)

At this Vel looked straight at him, smiling. ββYou are a mage born,β he said. βHer true name is Kest.β In the Old Speech, kest is minnow, as Ged well knew; and this pleased him to the heart. But after a while he said in a low voice, βYou should not have told me her name, maybe.β
But Vel, who had not done so lightly, said, βHer name is safe with you as mine is. And, besides, you knew it without my telling you β¦β

I read them as a teenager, every once in a while I remember it randomly, it had that effect on me.
