I am just finishing this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is patiently awaiting Doors of Stone. This a brief extract which showcases the book, and shows how the Kingkiller books may have been influenced by these stories. (If you are extremely wary of spoilers, don't read on. I did change one name to negate spoilers a bit)

At this Vel looked straight at him, smiling. β€˜β€˜You are a mage born,’ he said. β€˜Her true name is Kest.’ In the Old Speech, kest is minnow, as Ged well knew; and this pleased him to the heart. But after a while he said in a low voice, β€˜You should not have told me her name, maybe.’

But Vel, who had not done so lightly, said, β€˜Her name is safe with you as mine is. And, besides, you knew it without my telling you …’

I read them as a teenager, every once in a while I remember it randomly, it had that effect on me.
