Should I Go Through Critical Mode Before Re:Mind?

Title. No idea how the Re:Mind episode works. I started a new Critical Mode playthrough thinking that it might be best to play through all of critical and see the new stuff and complete everything on that file before doing the Re:Mind episode, but what are your thoughts? Is Re:Mind an actual playable story that loads off of one of your files, or is it just a group of cutscenes?
