I recently i started bing watching a lot of animated shows. I started with the big ones like Family Guy, South Park, and The Simpsons (didn't finish the simpsons mainly because I was never a huge fan but will make my way back). Saw a few newer shows like Disenchantment (loved it), HouseBroken (not great but not the worst I've seen), Bless-The-Harts (surprising not too bad but not something I'd watch often).
Currently I am watching King of the Hill (as of writing this I'm on season 3) and so far I'm really loving it. I've seen episodes of this show as a kid and didn't really get it, so I was excited to give this show another chance and to my surprise I find this show rather wholesome.
I wasn't expecting to see real unconditional love. Like when Hank and Peggy got so mad they kicked each other and then started laughing for no reason. I couldn't help but smile. It just shows me that no matter what they argue about there will always be genuine love there.
I'm the most surprised by the character development that I'm seeing so far. And I think that's says a lot about the shows I was watching beforehand. Like in Family Guy the lesson Peter learns just disappear while on the other hand Hank's lessons feel like they stick with him (if that makes sense). King of the Hill's formula to me feels like it's saying "Yes this problem is fixed but that didn't solve the real root of the issue". Hank has so much more learning to do and that's one of the things that keeps me hooked.
And it's not just Hank! I love how we watch the whole family grow and mature. So fat I'm the most invested in the growth of Peggy and Luanne (I love Luanne she is such a sweetheart I want the best for her). And I would say more but I want to get a bit further into the show before I talk about characters too much.
TLDR: I like this show a lot
