I just finished my first watch with my partner and we thought the ending was good. The reveal the Carolyn killed V tied it all together and made a lot of sense looking back. Carolyn formed the mission to identify and kill the 12 so that she could consolidate all the power for herself. Carolyn was obviously playing a long game from the very beginning, so it was unsurprising that she came out the ultimate victor.
Eve and V didn’t deserve to live happily ever after. They both did terrible things to others and to each other. Them winning and riding off into the sunset would have felt cheap and redeemed two characters who didn’t deserve absolution.
We were much more upset with the transition from S3 to S4 than the finale that’s for sure. The beginning of S4 was pretty rough, but the rest was fine. I wish we’d have actually picked up where we left off at the end of S3, but the finale itself was good imo.
