The wind whipped across the mountain ridge, snow cutting across the frozen scape like icy daggers. To one side rose the mountain's craggy surface. On the other side stood the dark, open sky overlooking the frozen forests that led to the range of mighty crags.

As a lone figure trudged through the feet-deep snow, holding their cloak tight around themselves as the wind whipped past. Soon, they came upon a crevice in the rock, what began as jutting rocks that created a sort of path up into the mountain and offered some reprieve from the buffering winds. Soon this would extend up, leaving anyone further along at the bottom of a deep gorge, and in the center of one of the more popular bordertowns, Snowsreach.

One of the earliest frontier towns, Snowsreach had begun as a humble trapper camp, the wide, steep walls of the gorge offered shelter from the wicked winds, and an easily defensible area from the creatures that called these mountains home. What started as camps and cookfires became cabins and forges, and soon buildings were erected. Now, as the figure approached the entrance of Snowsreach, they were greeted by the quiet of the town at night and the howling of the wind high above. A steel sign shaped as an anvil swung lazily a ways down, many of the buildings built right against the rock, their interiors carved into the very face of the mountain.

Tesh sighed as she entered the town, noticing the unlit windows and the soft glow of fires in the few houses. Her belly rumbled beneath her cloak, finally protesting in light of her last meal. She shifted the large sack in her right hand, the bottom now accumulating blood. She wasn't sure if she wanted to find the hunter's guild to be rid of it and claim a reward, or the tavern to find food and drink and warmth. But, the lack of weight in the purse on her belt made her choose the former.

The woman's hood pulled away by the wind, revealing a face marked by the  rugged beauty of the frozen plainsmen, her long blonde hair pulled back, bound with lime and braids, pulled away from her face. She grimaced as the wind slashed at her pale cheeks and pulled her hood back up. Money first, then food, then rest. She could continue in the morning. A wanderer without a cause and without purpose. Or so she thought, at least..~
