I posted before inquiring about how to proceed with a crack in the windshield. Thankfully I came to Reddit, because I quickly learned that another individual on this sub experienced something similar and was able to get it covered.
My story - About a month ago, I was driving down the highway and noticed about a 6 inch line right above my inspection stickers. I thought it was a twig, but long and behold, it was a crack. I immediately thought a rock had hit it and pursued SafeLite. Total cost would have been $984 with $500 out of my pocket for insurance. Insurance would cover the rest. I had my appointment set with SafeLite. A few days later, I read the post about a gentleman who experienced the same thing and had it fully covered under warranty. I bought the vehicle from a dealer a few hours away, so I took it to a local KIA dealership. They took photos and submitted to corporate. A few days later I receive a call that it indeed falls under warranty since it was NOT the result of a rock or something hitting it. I have an appointment on April 22nd to have it fully replaced with calibrations for the cameras. The crack has grown from about 6 inches to 27 inches currently. It's spreading quick, but looking forward to getting it replaced.
I'm sharing this incase anyone else out there is experiencing something similar! If it's not an impact crack, take it to the dealer - it may be covered under warranty. Y'all have a great day!
