AAWireless on all the time, even with car off

So the middle USB port up front is for Android Auto connections. I plugged my AAWireless device into it, but found out last night that this particular USB port does NOT turn off. I was inside the house and my phone was connecting to it... The other USB port next to it, with the cover over it, does not work with Android Auto. So I guess I have to unplug AAWireless every time I turn the car off?
