Post Body

I have a 2021 Tesla model 3 Performance that I paid about 65 for with full self driving. Presently I owe about 40,000 and it’s worth almost exactly that on trade. It’s a great car and has probably about 270 mile range because I replaced the 235 OEM tires with forged wheels that are 245/285 and very sticky. I’m someone that gets bored with cars every year or two and I’ve had this for over two years.

I drove the EV6 GT and really liked it. It was a tiny bit slower than the Tesla by the seat of my pants which lines up with the reported numbers. I think if it had been equipped with cooled seats I would’ve made the jump right away. That or a different matte paint color than silver.

Then I started reading about the Ioniq 5 N that is coming out next year and was obsessed with it 641 hp. The more I read about that, however, it seems like it’s really the same horsepower as the Kia with a very limited overboost function. In fact, they list the same 0 to 60. I’m also concerned the dealerships are going to play games even though I have one that will theoretically sell it to me for a sticker.

I’m still a bit obsessed on changing out the car and wondering what to do. Any thoughts? I could do the Kia and then, if the Hyundai was amazing, just eat the depreciation. Or, I could wait until the 24 Kia‘s come out assuming they will also have great deals because the inventory seems pretty backed up and do the same thing. Or, I could do nothing drive a Tesla and let everything play out which, my wife points out, is the logical decision.

I could also look at things like the EQE AMG sedan or the Plaid but I seldom find you get the value from the cars in that price range versus others plus they are heavy and the Mercedes isn’t really that fast. I have a hummer SUV deposit of a whole hundred bucks but I have no faith that will ever show up. What would you as a car at addict do?
