Slower Than Light Extrasolar Colonization?

Post Body
Has anybody ever built a slower than light spacecraft that can travel to other star systems? I think it would be really cool to simulate the Breakthrough Starshot mission in KSP.
Which of course naturally leads to planning a "manned"/Kerballed mission.
- Exoplanet Mod with real LY distances (Kerbin or Earth)
- Laser Sail for Acceleration
- Fusion Driven propulsion or MagSail for Deceleration
- Fusion Driven propulsion for planetary orbit insertion.
- Modular Life support and ISRU supplies that can be used on small asteroids for resource gathering or shuttled to a planetary surface
- Multiple STO reusable shuttles that can ferry hab components and crew to the ground. (and which also probably can refuel from ISRU done on the surface)
It might necessary to hack the "no time acceleration while accelerating" rule - since the decel might take some time. Anyway, I wondered if anybody ever tried something like this. Alcubierre drives seem like such a cheap shortcut.
