KSP 1 Mods

So I'm just getting into ksp modding, and I really want to have opt space plane parts and B9 Aerospace parts. Now it looks like I'd have to go back to as early as KSP 1.8 to have them. I can deal with the loss of eva construction, as I'll be downloading KIS and other building mods that far exceed the vanilla version anyway. What other things am I gonna miss out on? Are there any mods you've used to fill in the gaps if you've faced a similar situation? Tbh I cant remember just how different KSP was back then.
