My contacts came in! In the office they put them in for me and let me marvel at the difference of sight before doing scans to check the fit of the lenses in my eyes. They were extremely comfortable and the vision I received from them was unmatched. I feel like I haven’t been able to see that clearly in over 6 years or so. (Even when I stepped outside it was like an entirely different world)

So before I left they gave me a contact kit and I was trying to understand what each solution was for, as well as prepare to buy more since I was given a bit to last until next week and was also told to wear the lenses at my follow up next week. I practiced putting them in with the plunger and taking them out, realizing that it was easier to do my worst eye first and cut the bottom of the plunger so that I could see through it once displacement happened.

This morning I put in my lenses and started noticing that the clarity was off from when I put them on at the office, got to the office and took them out and reinserted. My bad eye felt really comfortable! But something was not right with my right eye. I took the lens out and cleaned it, checked the alignment of the dots, tried to see if perhaps it was crooked on my eye? Is that possible? took them out and re-inserted with more fluid until it spilled a bit over the top. At some point I even thought perhaps it was the wrong contact and they got swapped. After doing some research I discovered that one lens has one dot and the other has two. Two is for the left and one is for the right eye. I had them in the right eye but was still feeling like the lens was too tight in the top of my eye Or felt like my eyelid was being bothered by the lens. My KC is not nearly as bad in this eye, light with astigmatism. I also took pictures to show to the doc next week. I did manage to wear them for 4 hours and DID NOT WANT to take them off.

The gift of sight is something amazing. I was blazing through work because I could see everything on the computer and it felt so good! Good to be outside for a break and looking at the fall leaves and vibrant colors.

Anyone experience the same thing when first getting sclerals? I have worn soft cosmetic contacts before years ago. Any advice to ease or increase the comfort?

It really sucks only being able to do 4 hours a day until next week followup as I have to choose the optimal part of the day to use them. But I need to see for everything! Driving to work and driving home 8 hours later and during work. I’ve been choosing from 8am - 12pm/1pm

Also this may sound crazy but the doc told me not to use tap water to rinse the lenses... but if you can’t rinse how do you completely get the cleaning solution and conditioning solution off? It’s a milky substance and I don’t want it to burn my eye. At the same time if I use the preservative free saline used to fill it- it’s a lot of saline wasted that I need to last until the one I ordered arrives. Tips on this? Order of operations step by step? Ha. Much appreciated!
