Cross linking advice

I’m 24, I have a cross linking appointment next week. My eye doctor said she was going to be honest with me, it’s an 8/10 discomfort and pretty horrible as far as pain, but they describe you pain medicine and after that first day it’s not bad?
I just wanted to hear anyone who has had cross linking done (either kind) how bad was the pain and discomfort after. I’m horrified but I would appreciate honest opinions.
