Need recommendations! Planning a small road trip from OH. I want to see 'fall' colours, and thrift!

Planning a trip specifically between October 10th and 15th. I'm really wondering about WHERE within 2-5 hours of Dayton, Ohio, I will be able to see some beautiful orange leaves in the landscape. Between those specific dates, where in Kentucky would still be seasonally bright and autumnal? Which towns have you visited, explored, and loved? Where has the best hidden thrift stores? I love small second hand places, tasty food, friendly, lively towns, and nature (not huge on hiking, just love looking at landscapes).

Appreciate any ideas.
