How do I see what components are needed for blueprints I already know?

I am in a town with armor workstations but when I go to use them nothing appears in my crafting queue. I know a lot of blueprints already.

Also I have leather and cloth in my inventory but when I put one of each into the leather workstation nothing happens.

How do I use any of this and/or know what components I need to track down and/or save if I find them? Surely there is a way to look at known blueprints any time I want?

I have not built any of my own buildings yet. Well I did try once but it was overrun almost immediately and I was vastly outnumbered with no hope of defending it.
