I'm really not a fan of Julius or his fights. The dude has 0 personality besides stronk & his fights are pointless brawls that don't show anything interesting.

His "fight" with Sawada was just him tanking a kick he probably shouldn't have been able to tank & literally breaking his leg just by squeezing (which is also where the Waka wanking fans get the idea that Waka is always holding back because he doesn't just shatter all of his opponents bones with his grip). This was a dumb squabble that shouldn't have even happened & still brings up stupid arguments to this day.

Julius vs. Waka was only cool because of Julius dragging Waka's face across the wall, dope ass panels for sure. But the rest was dumb, 2 dudes of equal strength brawling it out with no technique, except one of them is supposed to be a master karateka/grappler, but shows no martial moves until the end of the fight. Blast Core gets revealed, which was cool, but other than that it was a nothing fight.

Saw Paing vs. Karo was an infinitely better version of this fight. 2 strong brawlers swinging away while still showing martial techniques, tactics & intelligence. Karo intentionally takes a hit to unlock his sea legs, find a way to incorporate his fishing techniques into a fight, etc. Also Saw Paing is an underrated tactician, just because he is overly aggressive. But he's quite intelligent in all of his fights, his style just leaves little room for anything but offense. Maybe I should make a post dedicated to Saw..

Julius vs. Toa was just a rehash of Julius vs. Waka if Waka hadn't forgotten his martial arts training. The 2 big dudes swing wildly for a bit before Toa redirects & counters Julius over & over, until Julius just decides he can hit harder than Toa can counter. This was just a fight between 2 of the least interesting characters, why can't super heavyweight muscle dudes have any personality?

Now I know I'm skipping over some things by quickly summarizing the fights, but the point still stands. Yes, Julius showed a tiny bit of intelligence by understanding the weakness of Blast Core & Waka won due to playing mind games, we've heard all of this before. But one or 2 small moments of something approaching a high level fight isn't enough. Karo vs. Saw Paing still showed more brain power & is a better & more underrated fight than any of Julius'.

I also feel like I should add, I don't hate Julius or his fights, though I'm not a fan of him or his fights either. He's just meh to me, his fights are what they are, just dumb meaningless fun. I enjoy the fights for what they are & if they're your favorite, good for you. I just prefer fights with more depth or character development or both. Just for reference, pretty much all of Kuroki & Ohma's fights have been my favorite, Cosmo, Rihito, Saw Paing, Falcon, Liu & Naidan's fights have been amazing as well.
