There were some good ideas on this album, but it felt so contradictory - and not in an interesting way. I think this will land as my least favorite Kendrick album.
It sometimes felt like Kendrick had more empathy and compassion for abusers (I free all you abusers...) than victims. Him giving Kodak his own songs and features - more than anyone else - was also ridiculous to me, considering what Kodak has done.
Now, before you project on me:
I have owned Eckhart Toelle's A New Earth, the book Kendrick gives a shoutout to on the new album, for nearly a decade.
I listen to a lot of cerebral rap like Billy Woods, Lupe, KA, Aesop Rock, Quelle Chris, El-P, Sylvan LaCue, etc. I'm not some lightweight rap fan.
Post lyrics from the album that support your point, instead of the tired "You should listen to it more" refrain because that is not discussion. It's lazy dismissal.
