For many years, I've been plagued with a severe keloid problem on my chest (image 1). I've attempted various treatments such as silicone sheet pressure, corticosteroid injections, and cryotherapy. These methods have alleviated and even removed some keloids without recurrence (image 2). The most effective treatment was the corticosteroid injection combined with cryotherapy, yet it's a slow and time-consuming process. Currently, I'm contemplating surgical removal accompanied by brachytherapy.
Despite this issue, I'm blessed to be married to a wonderful and stunning woman who, oddly enough, finds my keloids beautiful and consistently reassures me not to fret over them. However, I can't help but feel uncomfortable. Living in Brazil, a region known for its beaches, the thought of being shirtless in public is quite unsettling. I'm torn between learning to live with my condition or exhausting all my resources to remove these keloids.
There’s a 3rd option - managing them. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing
