I have about 5 big red keloids on my chest and about 5 more small white ones in the same area. It started when I was about 12 and got acne on my chest I finally went to the dermatologist when I was 15 and continued treatment for acne but one appointment my derm told me that the acne on my chest was actually keloids. Since then my first derm zapped my keloids off (I don’t remember what the machine was called that zapped my keloids but it was done at a licensed dermatologist) which would make them scab and flatten slightly but they wouldn’t go away, then my derm injected my keloids which helped them flatten significantly but they were still red, my dermatologist wanted to laser them off but the laser at the office was broken and they were having part issues. I ended up going to a new dermatologist to have them laser my keloids but they said they would never do that because my keloids were bumpy so they ended up injecting my keloids. Again, this flattened them but now I’m away for school until may and I think I might just give up on trying to treat my keloids. Usually I don’t mind them but they’re on my chest and they do have a large affect on my confidence. Im now 19 and I guess I’m just waiting and hoping they go away but I don’t think that’ll happen.

A few things… you’re hopeless today. It’s an emotion and emotions come and go. This feeling will to. Now about the keloids… nothing is going to “zap them off”. You decrease the redness, flatten them, etc. but they’re scars. They aren’t going away, but you can manage them… just like you can manage how you FEEL about them. Your second derm was correct. You shouldn’t take a laser to the scars when they’re NOT flat. The laser only penetrates a millimeters into the skin. If the keloid is too thick, you’re basically wasting your time (and money). If I were you, I’d buy some silicone tape off of Amazon and wear it 24/7 for 12 months. Your scars are small enough that you should get results but you have to be disciplined. After that they should be less inflamed and you might only need to wear the silicone at night. If not, then you might take the injection route again, and only after you’ve flattened them would I do laser to take the redness out. Though you’ll still need to wear the tape. Good luck

This is what I’ve used Mepitac 298400 Soft Silicone... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZF76K7K?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It depends. As a general rule, I’d say most keloid sufferers should probably be wearing a silicone tape at night. It can’t hurt. It just takes a very long time and it works very slowly and most people give up on it or don’t have the discipline. Then deem that “it doesn’t work”

Sure. I’d be careful with your thinking though. The skin will most likely never be “normal again”. Good luck
