Hi all, I have a chest keloid and I will be having it removed by excision and then a series of steriod injections.
This is not my first experience with keloids, I had one on my shoulder that was removed by excision and steriod injections (Kenalog) and my skin lightened for a bit but then it healed and is the same colour as my skin.
I am aware that adcortyl and Kenalog both have an active ingredient called triamcinolone acetonide however adcortyl has a lower amount - Kenalog is stronger.
Not sure which one I should go for? Has anyone had any experience with both? If so please can you share if your keloid has flattened and hasn’t grown back?.
Kind regards
Stephanie
My experience with keloids is you want to throw the kitchen sink at them, meaning, go with the stronger med. In fact, combining kenalog with a 2nd med like 5 fu has shown better results. Lastly, I’d argue that you want an experienced Doctor telling YOU what the follow up should be… not you telling him/her
Good luck
