Milk Kefir grains growth and multiplication

Do some grains not grow at all? I have been fermenting for almost a month now, and no growth. The grains are same. The kefir's texture is good, everything else is fine. What could be the case, because I wanted to share the grains with someone but they aren't multiplying!!
I just ferment a very small batch (one glass per batch for just 1 person, with a small spoon of grains). Amount of grains is sufficient, but I heard they multiply but mine aren't.
