Important : Does ready to drink stored kefir shrink/decrease in volume over time????

It has happened to me like 5 times now. At night, after straining out the grains, I measure the jar at 3/4 filled. but in the morning its just almost half filled. Why's that? I thought someone was drinking it, but no it happens everytime now.
