Think of the time and fuss saved if there was someone specifically designed separating kefir grain from curd without need for squeezing something out with sieves over the sink. I'm imagining a French press style device, perhaps instead of a fine wire net there was a stainless steel plate with 3mm holes that could be easily cleaned, the device could feature a similar lid; stainless steel with small air holes. If you have a set of two you could strain one batch, pour grains in the other and bung the first in the dishwasher, you wouldn't even need to approach the sink.
