The problem is how little damage base form Kayn does and how long S.A. takes to scale. Base form Kayn does literally 0 damage pre-transformation and that hurts tremendously in a meta full of early game skirmishing junglers. I had an incident earlier where i ran into a Lee Sin we were both at full HP with doubles, i had a caulfields on my first back and he had his Trackers smite and he shit on me no contest. Even missed his Q and it still didnt matter. Base form Kayn is one of the weakest champs ive ever seen in the game and this is coming from an Akali mains whose champ literally feels like half a champion till 6. If Riot wants Kayn to actually be a better pick and played in higher elos Base form Kayn needs some love.
Secondly Shadow Assassin Kayn contrary to what alot of people are saying bursts really hard. The problem is it takes way to long to finally feel strong on it. Most assassin style junglers spike really well off a full Warrior buy. Kayn is the exception. Not only do you not feel good to play until you transform you dont really feel strong until about 2-2.5 items in. Shadow Assassin Kayn does not feel good until you at least have Warrior Duskblade and half of your next item before you start feeling like you can pop lone adcs without worry of dieing to them solo. In the meantime as you try to farm your 2 to 2 and half items to finally be useful you have to pray your lanes dont feed in the meantime. Its not a good feeling.
I feel like Kayn is right on the cusp of being a good jungler he just needs like a couple things to be in a good place. Better early game impact on his ganks and ability to actually fight other junglers early or at least contest invades, and to spike a bit sooner then 2 to 2 and half items to finally feel like a useful dps champion. These are just my experiences from getting mastery 6 on Kayn so far with a couple games away from mastery 7. Id love to hear what the rest of you think tho.
