I forge knives and have a very modest knife and sword collection. I’m not equipped to heat treat swords so I can’t make them, but I have a deep appreciation of what it takes.
Ronin has good reviews even on their scratch & dent stuff so I ordered this monosteel heat treated & sharpened o-katana. It seemed like an amazing deal for a functional sword that had real iron, brass, buffalo, ray, and no cheesy bright colors or flashy bits that look like stainless steel mall-ninja to me.
Well it came and it’s beautiful- better than I expected- only one small flaw in the finish of the tsuba.
But if you look down the blade spine up the last 1/4 curves to the right and if you look down the blade edge up the grind is off- it starts decently centered and corkscrews over to the left. So the whole blade is curved and the edge is even more curved.
I sent them a message that my sword came curved and I expected finish flaws not a curved blade. Haven’t heard back but it was friday so I dunno. I don’t have high hopes. Their description said no refunds.
What does the hive mind think?
