Monitor mode not supported

As a novice in kali linux and networking in general, I attempted to enable monitor mode on my network interface. Initially, I used the command "ifconfig" and it returned "lo". Subsequently, I executed the commands "ifconfig lo down" and "iwconfig lo mode monitor" to enable monitor mode on the "lo" interface. However, the system responded with an error message "SET failed on device lo; Operation not supported".

Please let me know if you require additional information as I am still learning and may not be certain what details are relevant.
