Is a credit card a must for international students living in Leuven?

I already have a debid account in a Belgian Bank because I transfered my money to a Belgian blocked account, and I also have a debid account in a Bank from country, which I could use in Belgium to pay for whatever I need. In this regard, I wonder if there are places in Leuven (and I might even extend this question to places in Europe) where they only accept credid cards and not debid nor cash, in order to figure out if I must ask for a credit card before I leave my country. Thanks!
