This might be more of a UK customs question, but: I have a bottle of whisky, a gift from a friend. It's only one bottle, but it's a Dutch whisky and I'd like to bring it back with me to Scotland next week. The bottle has been opened, because we tried the whisky.
Obviously hand baggage is not possible for a liquid over 100ml. For hold luggage, alcohol isn't on KLM's prohibited items for hold luggage, so perhaps it's possible to carry it in the hold?
It's in the original bottle but since it's been opened and tasted it effectively has no resale value, so I guess UK customs shouldn't be interested.
Anybody know if it's possible to carry this in hold baggage, and is the biggest risk that I get whisky over my belongings if I don't seal it well? It's (quite clearly) a personal item, but I'm trying to figure out the answer because alcohol is a weird thing across borders!
