My nipples don't feel good when pinched, they just hurt. Like really bad. Why is this?

I've (19m) seen nipple clamps and I decided to try them on myself one time, but they didn't feel remotely good or pleasurable, not even in a painful kind of pleasure.
They just fuckin hurt like hell, but a buddy of mine says he loves it a ton.
Is it genuinely just painful, and something you get used to loving? Or is it supposed to feel good and for some people it just doesn't?
