it's one of the top social subreddits now, and they are clearly feeling some false sense of power from that. not only are there issues of power and censorship, but predatory behavior being let go under the radar as well as messy moderation all over.

my unsub has been prompted by their live chats. there are many problematic issues within the sub that I tried to combat, but this is one that is quickly overtaking the community there.

basically, the context is that they host live chats a few times a week that are policed by hosts trying to censor and control the conversation heavily. this isn't done in a productive or moderative fashion; it is merely done as a element of control. this is mostly done by those who aren't actual mods and just trying to feel powerful by having the hosting abilities and setting rules.

I've tried to be a member there to help spot the potential predators in the community and expose them, but it's clear that they are unwelcome to such behavior. they'd rather have high post volume and traffic than a safe community. fake profiles and scammers are posting daily there with who knows how many victims. it's a true hunting ground there because people are at their most vulnerable, so that's why you'd think it'd have more protection (well, unfortunately not.)

many of their rules are just to fulfill a standard and not an actual code of conduct. the report feature does nothing, and there is no clear person to report to with modmail. I've never seen any mods interfere or anything in actual warranted circumstances. only in really inconsequential ones where they want to silence others.

proceed with caution... the quality of that community is strictly declining. it's rare you see anyone actually making friends there as well because of the combined factors mentioned above, which is hardly a good sign for a sub that's built with that purpose in mind.
