Questions About Mezuzah Gifting
Post Body

Hi! I hope this post is allowed, if it’s not I will take it down ASAP.

A friend of mine had recently rediscovered his faith in Judaism. I am not Jewish but I wanted to get him a gift for the winter holidays that is religiously significant. I did some looking around and decided I would maybe like to get him a mezuzah with a kosher scroll. I’ve found some online shops that sell kosher scrolls and mezuzah cases but I have a few questions. I’m sorry if they’re dumb, I’m honestly clueless and just want to make sure I’m doing the right things. I mean no disrespect.

If I, a non-Jewish person, buy and handle a kosher scroll, will it still be kosher? Is there anything I should know about handling it or storing it until I can gift it? I would feel awful if I messed it up.

Is it ok to gift a mezuzah for Hanukkah, especially from a non-Jewish person? I don’t want to cross any lines or break etiquette.

If this is an inappropriate gift, does anyone have a suggestion for a religiously significant gift that I could give? My love language is gift giving and I want to celebrate my friend’s faith, it’s very important to him and therefore important to me. I want to do the right thing but I’m not sure what that is.

Please help! Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!
