Couldn't שוא also imply attributing anything to God that is false? For instance, would saying that God caused a calamity to fall upon someone for their perceived misdeeds be considered taking his name in vain? I never understood why people throw around "God" so often, yet find it totally acceptable to use it as long as the o is replaced with a dash. It always seemed a bit ironic to me. Although I'm sure the argument has been made by some that everything that happens is through the will of God. But that's another subject. Personally, I feel safer saying, "I don't know" when it comes to knowing the mind or will of God. Am I just being obsessive?
