Jewish funeral - i have so many questions
Post Body

So tl;dr is that my mother is Jewish but not in a Jewish family (mixed faith family is barely scratching the surface). I have promised to make sure that she will have a Jewish funeral rather than a typical Christian one that the family is used to. I can pretty much guarantee that I will be in charge of everything, and reading stuff online can only get so far. Please help?

Longer version: my mom's dying soon and because we've been through so many deaths in the family, we tend to have things (cemetery, funeral home, etc) planned and payed for before so it's less stress for the people left behind. However, most people in my family are some type of Christian so I have never been to a Jewish funeral. I've read as much as I can online, but that's more for the people attending, not the people who have to prepare. So. If you have to have someone sit with the body from death to burial, who does that normally? I won't be able to handle it, plus I will have to be taking care of everything else. I'm assuming my father will be dead before my mom, and my brother will not be able to handle it. Are there people in funeral homes that do this? I know it normally needs to be closed casket since there in no embalming, but what are those who need to see the deceased for closure? Do those people just go to a private room before the ceremony to see her? Is there a particular type of wood that needs to be used for the casket? I'll be making it, but I'm not sure if there's a certain wood that is used or if it's up to the person in it. Normal black clothes? Different cultures have different traditions for colour and type of clothing for both the deceased and the attendees (Lutheran Aunt always wore bright colours but her kids buried her in dark blue for symbolism)

Any help I can get is super appreciated.
