Seriously though, would it be possible for international companies to rival states?

Ancapistan galore and all that. So hypothetically they'd earn so much money they can set up private armies, police forces, bureucracy, education and welfare (if you work for us) systems to rival smaller states and take over them. With the monopoly on violence and all that kind of stuff. Intra corporation wars anyone?

It seems pretty scary but surely it isn't possible to implement in reality? I'm just afraid of a dystopic future (or more like present) where everything is corporate and https://youtu.be/pZk6ia1vFAc. It feels like nobody wants to break up big corpos, especially big tech, and it'll only get worse from here on as they keep buying up everything.

To make a long story short: Possible but not actually desirable for the company. Parasitizing existing polities is way better than handling the running of the state yourself. Not least of all because it means you don't get blamed and killed.
