First major cover story -- now what?

Post Body
I landed my first major cover story for my beat (entertainment) and it will be on magazine racks until early October. I think I should use the exposure to get more work; preferably full time, as I'm a freelancer right now.
How should I use this first experience to my advantage? It seems like I could, or should, make it work for me beyond the paycheck, but it's my first cover, and I don't have mentors in the field to help me navigate the next steps. Thank you in advance for your insight.
