Backpacking May 5-7, 2023
Post Body

Normally it’s too hot to backpack this time of year but with the quick chill last week, we got to enjoy the floral explosion. Most yucca & Joshua trees had shed their blooms but a few still held. The ephemeral flowers were everywhere, what a gift. A little early for cactus blooms but we did see some fine claret cup displays and by the last day, were treated to a few beaver tail and prickly pear blooms. Temps were cool & breezy 60s/70s by day and mid 30s at night (all temps Fahrenheit). Clear weather so no tent needed, able to enjoy the beautiful moonlit sky.
