Self-Authoring Criticism: No Accessibility for the Impoverished? A Huge Opportunity Going to Waste.

Post Body

I've done some research and it doesn't seem that the people who manage selfauthoring.com do anything to make their program accessible to those in poverty. Wouldn't it be wise to offer this program free of charge, to say, inner city schools and schools in impoverished countries? Obviously, for secondary schools, you would have to modify the future authoring program to 1-2 years instead of 3-5, as has been pointed out by Dr. Peterson.

I could be completely wrong here, and perhaps they do engage in such partnerships, but I cannot find any evidence of any such programs. I do believe I heard Peterson provided the program free of charge to a certain university, but that appears to have been a special occasion when they were fist developing and promoting the program.

Given that the program is most beneficial to those who find themselves under the worst circumstances, wouldn't it make sense to help make the world a better place by providing the program to young people who would otherwise either never hear of it, or, if they did, would not understand its profound significance or otherwise scoff at the $29.99 price tag for a series of writing exercises? For those living in America's inner-city "neighborhoods", and those in impoverished countries, $29.99 is, in fact, a great deal of money. As it is to those who find themselves unemployed, with no unemployment benefits, and a negative bank account balance, as I once was, and when I needed it the most. Not that my situation is AT ALL COMPARABLE to true poverty, and true hellish conditions.

I think the $29.99 price tag itself is a bit silly. If the primary purpose of the program is to help as many people as possible so that that they straighten themselves out and, thereby, make the world a slightly better place, why not offer a more affordable price, like $9.99? I can't imagine that the production of the program required a huge initial investment that requires a high ROI. I also know that a lot more people like me, who have struggled with long periods of unemployment and depression, would have done the full program a lot earlier instead of half-assing it by just going off what can be ascertained by listening to Dr. Peterson's lectures. Which, I must say, is not anywhere near as effective as doing the full program after purchasing the full suite, as I have recently done. I also know that, with a lower price, more people would purchase the program if we are to apply the simple principles of supply and demand. Perhaps $29.99 has been established as the optimal price point for maximum profitability, but I think that's a bit shortsighted financially for reasons I'm about to explain.

As someone who has struggled with directionlessness his entire life, and now realize the profound value of the self-authoring suite, it seems absurd to me that people like Peterson, and the other people who manage selfauthoring.com, have not yet engaged in large-scale partnerships that would allow people who have suffered much more profoundly than myself, and who have a great deal more unrealized potential than myself, will never even hear of the program when they could easily be introduced to it during the most important period of their life: adolescence. It could literally save the lives of many talented, ambitious, but directionless young men and women suffering from the violence and poverty of U.S. inner cities, similar areas in other developed countries (Doncaster in the UK, for example) and in developing countries where poverty and violence is often rampant in many areas but where free secondary education is still available.

Honestly, I think if they at least experimented with offering the program for free, and instead asking for donations so that they could offer the program to as many people throughout the globe as possible, I think they would experience a much higher ROI. If they made their mission statement, their purpose, to introduce the program to as many people throughout the globe as possible through various partnerships with schools, relevant non-profits, and job training programs, I know that many people would make very substantial donations to help them realize their vision.

For example, if I am successful in starting my own carpentry business, largely as a result of the works of Dr. Peterson and the self-authoring program, or if I simply continue to gain experience until I'm making $20/hr with benefits, I would one day donate $1,000, or more. Because I'd know it would be put towards helping countless more people throughout the globe, especially directionless young people in dire straits, who would not only find direction in life as a result of the program, but would also be likely to find and read the works of Dr. Jordan Peterson as a secondary result. I honestly think that would be the single most effective way of helping make the world a better place. His message is a simple but powerful one that could reshape the world: meaning is to be found through responsibility. Do your best to live a life that is maximally benevolent for you, for your friends, for your family, and for society. Which is what the future authoring program asks you to do. Not to mention the profound therapeutic results of the past-authoring program, which are too dense for me to venture into here.

They could still ask for the $29.99 payment on their website for those who can afford it. I highly doubt most of the people who can afford it would report being too impoverished to afford it simply to save $29.99 if they knew the money was going towards making it accessible to people in America's inner cities and Third World countries. The vast majority of people who would seek out the program, and have the financial means to pay $29.99 without issue, aren't that selfish. Similar programs have been highly successful in the past, as has been documented in the bestselling book The Next Evolution of Marketing: Marketing with Meaning.
