Hello Dr. Peterson!

I am writing this letter to you and those of the community in hopes of gaining clarity on a new development in my household. My partner of two years very recently began questioning if they are transgender. My partner has no prior incidents so to speak that one could refer to (outside of him finding women's apparel beautiful and believing women have more clothing options than men.) I am at a loss for how or why he believes this and my lack of information and knowledge leads me to believe he is suffering in some way. Years before I met him he was an evangelist christian and lost his faith a couple of years ago. He has battled depression and anxiety for some time and has some form of chronic illness that leads to him having general weakness, dizziness when switching from sitting to standing, and mild to severe body convulsions.

He does not have a diagnosis for anything as no diagnostics have provided useful information as to what could be causing these issues. I believe them to be neurological but again, I am no specialist and lack the knowledge and wherewithal to truly navigate his health conditions. Outside of that, I am deeply concerned for the well-being of my partner and wouldn't be reaching out if I wasn't serious or concerned. He is a software developer by trade and tends to rationalize most aspects of life (and in my opinion is beginning to treat scientific analysis as his replacement for religion) and cannot usually be swayed once he has a strong argument and enough evidence to support his point of view.

I worry that he surrounds himself with people who affirm his beliefs and "softball" the gaps in what he believes or do not challenge what he believes or why. If you or anyone in the community can help or offer recommendations it would be greatly appreciated.
