Sorry to rant to all of you, but I’m struggling on this one.
I’m having a difficult time emotionally regarding my coworkers since 10/7. I’m the only Jewish person in the department. They know I’m Jewish and that I have family in Israel. Most wished me a happy Hanukkah. Not a single one has asked if my family is ok or if I’m ok. We have people that immigrated from several countries and whenever there has been a disaster in those countries I’d always ask if their family was ok.
Politics gets discussed all the time in our slack chat. In fact the shooting in Maine at the end of October was commented on a great deal. It was very difficult to sit there are read dozens of comments expressing sympathy for the victim after hearing complete silence about the victims in Israel.
It’s ironic that years ago we had a Palestinian in the dept. we were very friendly. there was a bus bombing in Tel Aviv and he was the only one that checked to see if my family was ok.
