Key Fob deprogrammed?
Post Body

I'm hoping maybe the community can help me out on this mystery. Two weeks ago, 2018 Renegade vehicle battery dies at a convenience store. Towed to dealership for replacement battery. After battery replacement, key fob doesn't work in cab. Dash screen just continually says "Push button with key fob to start". No clicks, no crank, nothing. However, car will start with remote start on the same key fob. Panic alarm works, locks work, remote start works. But can't start it via the push button, and can't leave remote start mode to put it into gear. Dealership charged $200 for electrical diagnosis which delivered no results. Dealership said they could start with an ignition switch, which I assume is a new push button, which would run roughly $950. Too expensive for me. Had car towed home, called locksmith, as I had success with one 6 months prior to this after the vehicle was stolen and recovered. Until now. Locksmith comes out, gets key programmed. All good. Until he left, and key no longer worked. Back to square one. Had him come out again, and it took him no time at all to get it working again. This time I kept the engine running, drove it around a bit, then got a message on the dash saying "key fob has left the vehicle,". It had not. Got home, turned car off, and we're back to square one. Could it be a bad BCM? Ignition switch? Keyless antenna? Faulty PCM or RFHM? Anyone have any idea what could be going on with this? Im stumped and frustrated as hell. Any realistic ideas at all are helpful.....
