Hey guys, I’m a young guy who got his hands on a 2003 Jeep Liberty renegade 3.7 L with 4wd full time and all that good stuff! Basically got it as a gift and can’t really complain as it came to me pretty rough around the edges at 180,000 miles, and when I mean rough I mean I had to start the car with a flathead cause the ignition lock seized lol but I’ve worked out a bunch of the major issues to make it at least a safe and stable ride. Now I understand the economics of fixing up a car like this and I’ve fully committed to bringing this car up to snuff rather than buying another used car in this market and having to fix that one as well. While a lot of the issues have been worked out I do have a few lingering ones that have been quite hard for my budget mechanic out here in Brooklyn to figure out without paying out the ass in today’s labor rates, these issues are the following - car will begin to overheat the moment I place the fan on A/C other than that it won’t overheat at all, I can mitigate the overheating when on the highway due to the radiator getting sufficient air but in the stop and go nature of nyc that’s not often and the summer is quickly approaching - I can tell the car is idling quite rough and deff suffering from misfires from time to time on start up on cold days, it’s even stalled on me once. I forgot the codes that were thrown up but I changed the spark plugs on all cylinders, that seemed to help a bit but the problem still presists I suspect I may have to replace the fuel injectors and both upstream and downstream o2 sensors - last but not least I have a coolant leak that keeps haunting me. At first I changed the coolant reservoir because it had a massive leak, then a week later I replaced my main radiator after my car started to overheat due to the a/c issue exposing a small and hidden crack on the plastic sides of the radiator. I am now leaking a controllable amount to which I may need to top off once a week but I cannot find where the leak may be coming from for the life of me and praying that it’s not a head gasket dilemma although I doubt it is as the oil seems to be coolant free along with the oil cap.

I know this was quite a lot to read and I thank you if you’ve gotten this far, all my posts from here on out will be sweet and to the point but I felt I had to properly introduce myself to the community as I will be here for the foreseeable future. Regardless I love my liberty 🗽 in every way except for it’s mpg but we can all relate to that pain😂
