Sion to be owner of 95 Cherokee Sport
Post Body

Soon* to be owner... 🤦‍♂️

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the long post.

So I am getting a free 95 Cherokee Sport manual. I'm not a manual driver, last time I drove one was in 2004 and it was a short drive.

Car history, my brother's father in law got a new Jeep and asked if we wanted his old one. Last year he moved to Texas and came back early this year. The car has some rust stains in the hood and roof, seems like I can sand it down and paint it.

1) Since its a manual I feel like I need to pull the seat forward and it feels uncomfortable so might add some extra padding to the pedals. Shifting it is a hit or miss and never smooth (it's me not the car) any advice?

2) Do I need to press the clutch all the way everytime I change gears, seems to be really long.

3) To 1st and other gears, Do I need give it gas while shifting? Or will it move on its own and then give it some gas once I fully depress the clutch and it starts moving ? I know I will eventually find the sweet spot.

4) Any advice on what should I do maintenance wise? I plan on doing oil, transmission, coolant, when I officially own the car.

5) Also it doesn't have a tach, any advice if I should get an aftermarket one?

Thank you and sorry for the long post.

C.
