So for starters, I have a Hypergreen 16 JKUR Hard Rock. Love it but don't really take it offroad like I should. It's seen some fun off the beaten path areas and the offroad park nearby, but nothing really that good ol' 4Low hasn't been able to handle.
It's within my budget for payments and fun money (yes, I know what JEEP stands for), so I have no complaints about cost. The only complaint really is that I don't use the backseat, and my wife actually talked me into the JKU when we were looking thinking we'd use the extra space more than we have been.
All that being said, we're moving in probably 6-8 months to a bigger city and plan on the new house having a garage (which I'm pumped about). I have a good bit of equity in the JKUR and I was thinking about trading for a new JK Sport S that has half doors and a soft top. I also recently found out that in-laws on my wife's side own a Jeep dealership some hours away and I'm fairly confident I won't get totally screwed on my trade and could get the JK below factory, which has me seriously considering trading down.
I realize with the Sport that I won't have the nice rubi stuff like lockers (which are pretty nice), but part of me is really interested in being able to build a Jeep up later once I have a garage as opposed to living in a HOA area right now. I can't really work on my jeep currently as is and it's a pain in the ass taking off my full hard top where I live. I also love the idea of factory half doors and buying a pair of manual window JK doors if I ever needed them. Not to mention, the leather seats and power options for the interior in the Rubi now seem like too much for something that's going offroad and leather is sticky right now in the wonderful southern summer.
So /r/Jeep, what say you? Should I keep the JKU or getting a JK? Is there anything else I'm not considering? Thanks for the input in advance!
