Hello jazz friends, I play trumpet in my high school jazz band (first year) and am relatively new to this whole thing. I realize that my historical knowledge is actually 0 and would like somewhere to start and perhaps an evolution of the genre? I have Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" but I'm sure that he has much more to offer to my virgin ears and I would like some help finding that. I am specifically referring to Miles Davis because as I understand, he is basically THE jazz trumpet guy, and that's what I'm interested in. What I'm asking is help with what to listen to, as my choices are almost limitless and I'm somewhat overwhelmed. I'm not specifically asking for trumpet stuff, as I would like my jazz knowledge to extend far beyond the reaches of just trumpet. Thanks!
