Post Body

Hi! I am in my young 20s and have been blessed with the opportunity to work remotely in Japan for a couple months! I plan to be there from 5/13 - 7/27 and was hoping to get some suggestions on this general itinerary! I dont necessarily plan to do everything on the list, these are just highlights and ideas per city. This will be my second time in Japan, last time I went was in October with some friends for 1.5 weeks and we basically only hit popular tourist attractions in Tokyo and Kyoto.

The gist of my trip this time will be outlined below, but the first two weeks will be with friends my girlfriend, and the next ~11 weeks will be solo travel. It is during the solo travel time that I will also be working remotely. My hours will be quite strange, working late in the night basically so weekdays it may be harder to plan night activities.

During the first two weeks I will likely primarily be in Tokyo or Tokyo 1 other place (please suggest what you think is best, was thinking prob Osaka). Then I plan to stay a little longer in Tokyo solo just to adjust to working JST and then start north and move south. I also want to do more touristy things the first two weeks with my friends because it will be their first time in Japan, then solo travel I want to still do common tourism things, but include less "popular" tourism attractions (ive mostly just scrolled through travel websites and tiktok for suggestions so far). I am open to anything but I feel the primary focus of attractions I want to hit are relaxing nature related, onsens, food, shopping (please suggest things I should buy, for example I heard denim in Japan is especially good), and festivals. I also have not gone in the summer time before and heard horror stories so any packing tips would be appreciated as well. If you think the general route I am taking needs changes, or if there are prefectures or cities I am missing out on let me know! Tips on meeting people through local activities or online forums would be awesome too! Appreciate all the advice and looking forward to the trip.
