I’ve been hearing it online a lot lately, but this is the first time I’ve heard it in person. This morning literally they are still talking to my grandma and one of the men said “Americans are lazy, don’t want to work and they all are on Welfare, all they do is complain.” then his friend chimed in and said “But if they all worked, we wouldn’t have any jobs” His friend agreed. I wanted to run out of his room and have a full on debate with this old ass man.
Then I will tell my grandmother about herself for even letting that man say that knowing I’m an American myself, her grandchildren are American and her sons grew up in America. My parents are born and raised in Jamaica, but I was born and raised in America so it’s offensive and he will say that not knowing the history of Black Americans(not only that but he’s generalizing them all in one bucket, as if there are not black, American doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc.) If black Americans didn’t complain and fight, he wouldn’t even be in America sitting in my grandmothers house rn to be talking about Americans like that. it’s honestly a shame that people from other countries think that way about Americans
