(Many nowadays claim to find it difficult to build a connection with the idol of Bhagwan. While some of us continue to go daily as mere part of our daily routine, others stop it altogether. Does a Shravak merely view the idol as a block of stone? What comes to his mind on seeing the idol? To give us some direction, I've translated this following excerpt from the notes of Paramaradhyapad Acharya Shri Vijay Ramchandrasurishwarji Maharaja's disciple, Pujya Acharya Shri Vjay Ravichandrasurishwarji Maharaja.)
On beholding the idol of the Jina in the Jinalaya, a Shravak is overwhelmed with devotion.
On seeing Bhagwan's mouth, he thinks, 'This is the mouth that never spoke ill of anyone, that never spoke dishonestly, and that never uttered violent words. The tongue in His mouth never indulged in the pleasures of taste but instead preached Dharma to numerous bhavya souls, hence helping them swim across the sea of samsara. Blessed thus is this mouth!'
'This nose has never been indulged in or addicted to the aroma of perfumes or any other fragrant material...'
'These eyes have never indulged in the five types of sights. They have never lustfully looked at any woman. Nor have they ever looked at anyone with spite. They have always been equanimous, reflecting on the nature of each substance and the complexity of karma. Blessed thus are His eyes!'
'These ears are so immaculate, those which have not listened to musical tones or the renditions of entertainers but have listened to pleasant and unpleasant words with equanimity.'
'This is the body that has never violated any living being, that has never taken anything unlawfully. This body has always protected living beings and has acted such that no being is hurt. This body has sanctified different villages and cities, uplifting bhavya souls. This body has freed several people of their suffering, and, using this very body, He destroyed all ghati karma and attained Kevalgyan and Kevaldarshan.'
