What is the Best Book to Start With?

Like so many others I am increasingly getting interested in this series/character due to the tv show. Thus I want to start reading the books.
The only caveat I have is I’d like to start with some smaller scale stories. I loved season 1 of the show due to the small town feel. Season 2 is all over the place. Also anything Asian related would be cool. It’d be neat to see Reacher go up against other cultures.
