First up I feel like a bitch and I hope itās not just a āmeā problemā¦but I really really hate an extended house guest. I love visitors and Iām even up for a weekend guest at times butā¦I am not made for this current situation.
Currently we are two days in to a 16 day visit from bfās mom. Last year it was 60 days but it was split with his sister, so I keep telling myself itās better this year and I should be happy butā¦16 days is just still too much. Especially with her.
She is just very unique. She doesnāt have hobbies or interests and so she just sits in our living room all day watching game shows. She doesnāt drive. We have no kids, and we both work, but I work from home some days. So for me itās just so uncomfortable and feels intrusive.
She has made comments about my weight in the past many times and has told me Iāll get better at cooking, I just need more practice. I am 35 years old and I donāt struggle as a cook and yes I am plus size but thatās my business and donāt need to be told about it. Thereās been more uncomfortable comments from her than I could mention here. So just overall- I am not at ease in her presence.
I am wondering if anyone else has gone through this and how you handled it? I really donāt want this to ever happen again. If she comes to visit, I want it to be maybe a week at maximum but preferably I want her to get an Airbnb or something. Any tips are appreciated on how to have this conversation with BF when she brings up the visit next year. For context she lives with his brother 16 hours away and they want her there bc they need help financially. We donāt. Iām definitely even open to you telling me Iām being a bitch and need to suck it up. Thank you for reading!
